James co-founded Clearview in 1999 and, together with other Managing Partners, manages all aspects of the firm's activities. In addition, James has primary responsibility for overseeing the firm’s financial operations including budgeting, reporting and valuations. Jim is also a member of the Investment Committee.

Prior to forming Clearview, James was a Managing Director at Capital Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm, where he led the firm's portfolio management efforts, co-managed due diligence and was responsible for significant improvements in portfolio performance. Prior to joining Capital Partners, James was a management consultant with Mars & Co where he consulted to Fortune 100 companies in the consumer product, industrial and technology arenas on a wide range of strategic and operational issues.

Prior to his consulting career, James was a senior field engineer and field test coordinator for Schlumberger stationed in the Middle East. He holds a BSE in Civil Engineering, cum laude, from Princeton University and an MBA from The Wharton School.
